Designated one of Chicago's important landmarks in 1991, Chicago's beautiful Michigan Avenue Bridge is one of the most beautiful and impressive landmarks in Chicago. The Michigan Avenue Bridge was built to improve Chicago's transportation and also to enhance the nearby riverfront area of Chicago.
Chicago's Michigan Avenue Bridge was designed in 1909 and construction finished in 1926 and the bridge now provides one of Chicago's main transport routes. Highlights include many detailed and intricate monuments and sculptures on the bridge itself, which depict important historical events in Chicago.

Resembling an enormous baseball bat, this Chicago landmark is almost 30 meters / 100 feet high and is constructed from steel and aluminum, which has been painted with enamel. Constructed in 1977 by sculptor Claes Oldenburg, the Chicago Batcolumn is located in the Harold Washington Social Security Administration Building Plaza

This vast stone fountain was finally finished in 1922, after almost 15 years of construction work. Marking 100 years of peace between England and America, Chicago's Fountain of Time features a reflecting pool, detailed sculptures, huge jets of water and has become one of the top landmarks and attractions in Chicago. The fountain is over 100 feet / 30 meters in length and is situated in the Hyde Park area of Chicago.

This stunning and enormous Chicago fountain has become quite a landmark in the city, since its arrival in 1927. With large fountains of water, beautiful statues of horses, the Chicago Buckingham Fountains are located in Columbus Drive and Congress Parkway in Grant Park in Chicago and are one of the largest fountains in the world. One of the main features of the fountains is the impressive jet of water that shoots water up to 150 feet / 45 meters into the air. At night, the fountains are flooded with lights and they are switched off during the winter months.

The impressive and imposing Chicago Rising from the Lake sculpture has become of the major landmarks and monuments in Chicago. Created in 1954, this sculpture weighs over three tons and was originally situated in a car parking area. The imposing Chicago Fisher Building quickly became one of Chicago's most impressive landmarks when it was built over 100 years ago in 1895, and was one of Chicago's earliest skyscrapers. Measuring 275 feet / 83 meters high, with 20 floors, this tall building was designed by Daniel Burnham and is clad in terra-cotta. The Chicago Fisher Building was designated as one of Chicago's important landmarks in 1978 and was originally inspired by early European Gothic cathedrals. Chicago's Lincoln Monument is the oldest presidential statue in Chicago's park district and was created in the late 19th century by sculptor Augustus St. Gaudens. The impressive landmark statue shows Lincoln as a young man, before he became the president of America. When the statue was first unveiled it received worldwide acclaim and was highly regarded in Chicago.

Chicago's Marquette Building was designated one of Chicago's landmarks in 1979 and is an early example of a Chicago skyscraper. With an underlying steel framework structure and terra-cotta exterior (now blackened), this building was quite stunning when it first opened. This building is names after for Jacques Marquette, a French Jesuit missionary and explorer who lived in the area during 1674 to 1675. Highlights of this landmark include a spacious, light octagonal lobby with mosaic panels made by Tiffanys, and numerous bronze busts of early explorers. The important Chicago Marquette Building has significantly influenced the design of many great buildings over the years and is situated in the Loop district of Chicago.

Built in 1922 and now one of Chicago's most loved landmarks, the Chicago Tribune Tower was originally created when the city's Chicago Tribune newspaper held a competition to design the tower. With a prize of USD 50,000, the competition attracted almost 300 entrants and was awarded to the architectural firm of Hood and Howell. This tall tower measures 462 feet / 141 meters. With many famous stones embedded on the tower's lower walls, including a moon rock, fragments of rock from the Alamo, the Colosseum and the Chinese Wall, the Chicago Tribune Tower remains one of the most beautiful monuments in Chicago.
